Design and Looks
The Atlanta 450 Universal Air Purifier looks reasonably good. If it hadn’t been for the console, it would have scored less on the looks department. The console here is better looking than in the Beta 350 model. The all black console displays the settings with green LEDs. The console is mounted on the top unlike in Beta 350 where it is towards the front. The device weighs 6.5 Kgs and has a water tank of 1.08 L capacity at its back.
Humidifier and Mist Control
The Atlanta Universal 450 Air Purifier comes with an in-built humidifier. A humidifier can prove useful especially when the air outside is very dry. The storage tank for is a bit small with a capacity of just 1.08 L. You must ensure to always put perfectly clean water in it. Do remember to change it periodically.
The mist level can be set to Low, Medium or High. The mist rate varies from 88 ml/hour to 136 ml/hr at high speed. You can see the water vapors dispensed from a vent on the top.
Air Quality Indicator
The Atlanta Universal 450 displays the air quality in a prominent way. On front of the control panel, a crescent shaped section blinks in Red, Orange or Green. It may take varied amount of time to change color depending on the extent of pollution.
Filters
The more the filtration stages the better! Also, more the filtration levels, the lesser is the load on each stage. The Atlanta Universal 450 Air Purifier has 7 stage purification with iCluster technology. There is no technology as such just a fanciful name to make things look Hi-Tech. Still, its a good feature and a differentiating thing which sets the Atlanta air purifier apart. Filters can be bought from Amazon, or directly from Atlanta website.
Stage 1: Pre-Filter
The pre-filter traps larger particles such as hair, fibers and pet dander. This is a norm and most air purifiers have this stage. Having a pre-filter prolongs the life of other filters. Since it is washable it improves the performance which otherwise tends to diminish as the filters get clogged. You will never need to replace the pre-filter.
Stage 2: Anti-Bacterial Filter
A single compound filter has the anti-bacterial filter and the HEPA filter in the backside. It kills air borne bacteria and prevents spread of infections.
Stage 3: HEPA Filter
The HEPA filter is a H13 grade filter which is True HEPA and of good quality. It also removes fine dust particles up to 0.3 micron.
Stage 4: Activated Carbon Filter
Activated carbon filters are bio-synthesized from walnut shells. The activated carbon filter renders the harmful gases harmless. It catalyses and decomposes harmful gases like hydrogen sulphide and ammonia from air. It removes VOCs and odour in the room with an efficiency >98%.
Stage 5: Photo Catalytic Oxidation Filter
Photo Catalyst neutralizes allergens, mold and infectious droplets.
Stage 6: Ultraviolet
A UV lamp stage follows the PCO filter. The life of the UV lamp is around 4 years. Ultra-violet rays kill micro-organisms and sterilizes air from bacteria and virus. The efficiency of this stage is > 97.6%. The UV Lamp can be turned ON/OFF through a separate button.
Step 7: Ionizer Anion Generator
Negative Ions or Anions are known to be mood enhancers. Anions are helpful in giving a fresh feel to the air. They are known as the “Air Vitamins” as they improve air quality. The Negative Ion Generator can be turned ON/OFF through a separate button. There is a mechanism that produces huge density of anions.
Timer
The timer button can be used to set the timer between 1 to 12 hours. You can set the timer intervals in increments of 30 minutes. Once the duration of the timer expires, the air purifier turns off.
Sleep Mode
The sleep mode button when pressed automatically makes the fan to run in low fan speed.
Auto Speed Mode
The air purifier has inbuilt sensors which sense the odor and particulate levels in the room. This air purifier operates in full auto mode and changes the fan speed on its own.
COMPARE – Atlanta 450 Vs Philips AC4081 Vs Panasonic F-VXF35MAU
The Atlanta Universal 450 Air Purifier with Humidifier also comes with a remote control. It restarts in the last operational mode after a power failure.
CONCLUSION – Atlanta Air Purifier Review
The Atlanta Universal 450 Air Purifier cum humidifier is a nice product. The water tank is very small but that limitation is not much noticeable. This is so because the humidifying rate is small. This means the humidifier uses up the water slowly. Hope our comparison chart helped you in distinguishing the features. This chart compares between other models from Philips and Panasonic. The Philips AC3821 is a classy air purifier cum humidifier. If you don’t want to compromise on the brand value of Philips then you can buy it with closed eyes. The Panasonic F-VXF35MAU is also worthy of consideration.
