This is an introductory level air purifier and the cheapest in the Air Touch series. The low price doesn’t mean that it is inferior in anyway. The device performs very well and is suitable for small sized rooms.
Indians are still not used to splurging on air purifiers, unless very critical. Usually, they just try out things they otherwise think as unnecessary like air purifiers. Best Honeywell Air Purifier Air Touch A5 Review
In terms of sales in India, Honeywell Air Touch A5 is the company’s Bestselling air purifier. One reason may be because cost-wise it is the cheapest of all models from Honeywell. There are only a few air purifiers in India with some degree of Real-time pollution feedback in this price. However, from the features perspective, I would not call it the best air purifier. It has AUTO mode which lets you relax while it automatically alters its fan speed to clear off the pollutants in the best possible way.
However, it does not have a very common feature of a Timer. Personally speaking, I have not seen many people using the Timer function in air purifiers, air conditioners or anywhere.

DESIGN AND LOOKS
The Honeywell Air Touch A5 comes in two colors- Champagne Gold and Classic White. The looks are decent and the air purifier reeks high class. The control panel is all black and has a glossy finish. The body has round edges and a neat finish. The front cover is designed such that not part of the filters is exposed to incidental touch.
The back has a handle to lift and place the air purifier as per the need. The device has an anti-fall base and is topple resistant and restricts accidental falls. Even if the air purifier topples while in operation, it turns off automatically.

AIR FLOW
The Air Purifier releases air at an angle of 15-20°. This creates optimum air flow to clean air from even the farthest corners. The purified air comes out from the top. The funnel design helps throw the air to far and wide areas of the room. They call it 3D airflow, nice!
The sides and some part of the bottom of the air purifier are the air inlets.
FILTERS
The Honeywell Air Touch A5 comprises of three filtration stages. The Pre-Filter, HEPA Filter and Activated Carbon Filters are the standard set of filters.
- The Pre-filter is essentially the first level of air quality treatment and is washable. It helps increase the life of the HEPA and filters stack on the inside.
- The high grade HEPA filter removes PM2.5 and microscopic allergens. The Compound Filter is nothing but HEPA and the Activated Carbon Filter merged together into one. The compound filter cannot be washed and should be replaced when the indicator blinks. Honeywell advertises the life of its filter to be 3,000 hours. Obviously, the actual life depends on many different conditions. Still, on an average the filters can last for about a year for 8 hours daily usage.
COVERAGE AREA & CADR (m³/h)
The CADR for Air Touch A5 is 250. Compared to other air purifiers in the same price band like MI Air Purifier 2 (310) and Philips AC1215 (270), it is lesser. The Coverage Area is 323 sq.ft. As advertised, the air purifier can clean this much area in 15 minutes. This claim means that there is something fishy about the CADR rating.
The CADR rating is indicative of the Air Changes per Hour (ACH) which is a minimum of 5. If the CADR rating is indeed 250, it means the air purifier should clean the whole room air a minimum 5 times. From the 15 minutes thing, the ACH value comes out to be 4. It is possible that maybe the company is considering Open and Shut scenarios where the room is not fully air tight.
Still, Honeywell Air Purifiers are among the Best in quality and performance.
Air Quality Indicator
The Honeywell Air Touch A5 has a Tri-LED Air Quality Indicator mechanism. There is no Real-time air quality indicator. Air purifiers which come with WiFi and APP functionality have PM2.5 displays. The display is either on the control panel or is visible in the APP. The Honeywell Air Touch i8 Air purifier launched with A5 has this functionality. There is no comparison in terms of coverage, CADR or cost as such. The Air Touch S8 model comes with WiFi and the PM2.5 reading can be seen in the APP.
Honeywell Air Touch i5 model is cheaper and still has a digital PM2.5 meter. Other models like i9 or Air Touch i11 also have this feature.
Sleep Mode and Child Lock
Air Touch A5 has a sleep mode feature too. Although a very common but is useful during night or sleep time. So, you get a comfortable night’s sleep courtesy the low noise operation and sleep mode. A Child Lock button on the touch panel restricts deliberate setting changes by small kids. The buttons on the panel won’t respond unless the child lock is disabled.
Auto Mode
As is present in most air purifiers, the Auto mode is a hassle-free mode of operation. You do not to have to manually change the settings again and again if you use it. The Air Purifier automatically adjusts its fan speed as per the pollutant levels. After a power failure, the purifier restarts on its own to the last setting selected.
Sensors
There is a sensitive laser dust sensor in this model. It senses the particulate levels in the room and helps the purifier to function in Auto mode. There is no Real-Time pollution reading though. But, its absence is fine since its a budget model. With each additional sensor, the cost of the air purifier goes up. It is comparable to the MI Air Purifier 2S in cost. MI has come up with a TRUE HEPA filter in its models MI Air Purifier 3 and MI 2C now. The MI air purifier 2S and MI Air Purifier 3 have many extra features like real-time AQI monitoring through APP and higher CADR. Still, in terms of brand trust Honeywell has an edge. You can compare the features and decide which one to buy.
